KasumiLabs ("we", "us", or "our") operates the FlashMind mobile application (the "Application"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Application. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THE TERMS OF THIS PRIVACY POLICY, PLEASE DO NOT ACCESS THE APPLICATION.

We reserve the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy at any time and for any reason. We will alert you about any changes by updating the "Last updated" date of this Privacy Policy. You are encouraged to periodically review this Privacy Policy to stay informed of updates. You will be deemed to have been made aware of, will be subject to, and will be deemed to have accepted the changes in any revised Privacy Policy by your continued use of the Application after the date such revised Privacy Policy is posted.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to the third-party online/mobile store from which you install the Application or make payments. We are not responsible for any of the data collected by any such third party.

Information Collection and Use

The app stores the following information locally on your device only:

• Flashcards (front and back text) you create or import
• Deck names, descriptions, colors, and organization
• Study progress, spaced repetition intervals, and mastery levels
• Study session history and statistics (streaks, accuracy, time spent)
• Your app preferences (language, theme mode, daily goal, notification settings)
• Notification schedules for study reminders

Your flashcards, study data, and personal content never leave your device and are not transmitted to any servers owned by KasumiLabs.

Community Decks (Cloud Feature)

FlashMind offers an optional Community Decks feature that allows users to share and discover flashcard decks published by other users. This feature uses Google Cloud Firestore to store and retrieve shared decks.

What data is shared when you publish a deck?

• The deck name, description, and category you provide
• The flashcard content (front and back text) within the shared deck
• An anonymous device identifier (not linked to your personal identity)
• Timestamp of when the deck was published

What data is collected when you browse community decks?

• Standard Firestore read operations (no personal data is collected)
• Downloaded community decks are stored locally on your device

Third-Party Services

The Application uses the following third-party services that may collect information used to identify you:

• Google Play Services
• Google AdMob
• Firebase Analytics
• Firebase Crashlytics
• Firebase / Cloud Firestore
• Google ML Kit

Advertising

The Application displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use data to show you personalized or non-personalized ads based on your consent preferences.

What data may AdMob collect?

• Device identifiers (advertising ID)
• IP address
• General location data (country/region level)
• App usage and interaction data with ads

GDPR Consent: For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the Application uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request your consent before displaying personalized advertisements. You can change your consent preferences at any time through the Application settings or by reinstalling the app.

Important: Your flashcards, study data, decks, and personal content are NEVER shared with ad networks. Only anonymous device and usage data is shared for the purpose of serving ads.

Camera and OCR

The Application offers an optional feature to scan text from books, notes, or printed materials using your device's camera to quickly create flashcards. This feature uses:

• Camera Access: To capture images of text — books, notes, whiteboards, or any printed material
• Google ML Kit (On-Device): To perform text recognition (OCR) entirely on your device

Firebase Services

What data does Firebase collect?

• Device information (model, OS version, screen size)
• App usage data (screens viewed, features used, session duration)
• Crash reports and error logs (to help us fix bugs)
• Anonymous analytics data (no personally identifiable information)

This data is collected automatically by Firebase and helps us:

• Identify and fix bugs and crashes
• Improve app stability and performance
• Understand which features are most useful to users
• Understand which devices and OS versions need optimization

Important: Crash logs do NOT contain your flashcards, study progress, deck content, or personal content. They only contain technical information about what went wrong in the app.

Permissions

The Application may request the following permissions:

• Camera: To scan text and create flashcards using OCR (optional — you can always create cards manually or import from CSV)
• Storage: To import flashcards from CSV files stored on your device
• Notifications: To send daily study reminders and streak warning notifications
• Exact Alarms: To schedule precise notification delivery at the times you configure
• Internet: Required for the optional community decks feature, ads, and crash reporting

These permissions are used solely for the app's core functionality. We do not access, collect, or transmit your personal files or data through these permissions. All permissions are optional and the app remains functional without them.

Data Storage

All your personal data (flashcards, decks, study progress, preferences) is stored locally on your device. We do not use cloud storage for your private data. This means:

• Your data is as secure as your device
• Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all locally stored data
• We cannot access, recover, or view your private data
• Community decks you published to Firestore can be deleted from within the app

Log Data

In case of an error in the Application, we collect data and information through Firebase Crashlytics called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your device Internet Protocol ("IP") address, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the app when utilizing our Application, the time and date of your use, crash logs, and other diagnostic information.

Important: Log Data does NOT contain your flashcards, study progress, deck content, or any personal content you have entered into the Application.

Cookies

This Application does not use cookies explicitly. However, third-party services (Firebase Analytics, AdMob) may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to collect usage data and improve their services. You have the option to limit data collection through your device settings.

Service Providers

We employ the following third-party companies and services to facilitate our Application:

• Google Play Services: For app distribution and updates
• Google AdMob: To display advertisements and support the free version of the app
• Firebase Analytics: To understand how users interact with the app and improve user experience
• Firebase Crashlytics: To monitor app crashes and errors so we can fix them quickly
• Cloud Firestore: To store and serve community-shared flashcard decks
• Google ML Kit: For on-device text recognition and OCR scanning

These third parties have access to limited, anonymized information about your device and app usage. They are obligated not to disclose or use the information for any other purpose. These services do NOT have access to your flashcards, study data, deck content, or personal content.

Security

We value your trust in using our Application. Since all personal data processing happens locally on your device and no personal files are transmitted to external servers, your data remains secure on your device.

However, please remember that no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure. We recommend you:

• Keep your device secure with a password/PIN/biometric lock
• Only download the app from official app stores (Google Play Store, Apple App Store)
• Keep your operating system and the app updated to the latest version

This Application may contain links to other sites (such as this privacy policy page). If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. Note that these external sites are not operated by us. Therefore, we strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of these websites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

Children's Privacy

This Application does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to take necessary actions.

Your Data Rights (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), if you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain data protection rights. Since all your personal data is stored locally on your device, you have full control:

• Access: View all your flashcards, decks, and study statistics within the app
• Rectification: Edit any flashcard or deck information at any time
• Erasure: Delete individual cards, entire decks, or all data through the app
• Complete Removal: Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data
• Community Decks: You can delete any decks you have published to the community from within the app
• Consent Management: Manage your advertising consent preferences through the consent dialog shown at app startup
• Opt-out Analytics: You can limit data collection by disabling analytics in your device settings

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected and how it is used. As stated above, we do not collect personal information from the Application itself. Third-party services (AdMob, Firebase) may collect anonymized device and usage data as described in this policy.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.

These changes are effective immediately after they are posted on this page.
